The European Bank for Reconstruction and Advancement (EBRD) and the European Union (EU) are funding a new motorway segment in North Macedonia, from the capital Skopje to Blace Interchange, near to the border with Kosovo. The new highway will give more quickly and less complicated connections for trade and citizens.


A €167.6 million bank loan from the EBRD to build the motorway will be complemented by an EU grant of €20.8 million, as well as €8.8 million in funding for specialized cooperation to prepare, apply and supervise the functions. The latter are becoming supplied through the Western Balkans Expense Framework (WBIF).


The strategic street portion will increase one-way links in the region and on to the European Union. It is portion of a transport artery from Skopje to Kosovo’s money, Pristina, which has noticed improved traffic volumes in latest decades, and a greater European street community connecting Sweden to Greece through the Western Balkans.


The new twin two-lane motorway will run parallel to the current A4 national street, a one carriageway built more than 50 decades in the past.
